I am working on wool and organic cotton items, as well. I have an organic cotton butterfly in the works, as well as crocheted bean bags. I want to design a mermaid doll and a collection of bugs.

The cutest longies ever!

I have finished two adorable pairs of longies.One in size large another one in size small. Check them out, I am so proud! I especially like the Halloween one.

I have also posted some other accessories: fingerless gloves in women and toddler size and a toddler hat that would go very well with the spider longies.

Last time I posted on this blog I was also hoping to get my cloth diapers out there by the end of the summer, but it just did not happen. I have to say that I still need time to tweak my product, hopefully, I'll manage to have time to get this project going in some near future.

I'm Barbara (clemrose on MDC) and I'm thrilled be joining the Mothering Team.  I've had a chance to look at some of the items on offer by you creative mamas and am in awe!

I love sewing, knitting, crafting, cooking, gardening, reading, writing and, of course, mothering. I have a very sweet fifteen month old baby girl who inspires me everyday.  Because of her I've become dedicated to living my life creatively.  For me that sometimes means getting out in the garden, or experimenting with a new bean recipe, and often, sewing.  

I've been sewing for years, on and off. Shortly after my daughter was born I began sewing clothes for her. Well, I've loved it so much that I am now offering some of the clothing I've designed on etsy.  Right now my shop consists mostly of soft-soled baby shoes, but I do offer some other clothing for babies and toddlers.  When time permits I give a peek into my life on my blog at bgtw.typepad.com.

The Woodland Nursery

We will be introducing our new little felted babies to Etsy soon. They are needle felted, 100% wool and so soft and sweet. Each one measures roughly 3" long and is one of a kind. Each babe comes with a wee birth certificate for the adopting child to write in the name they choose for their baby. A portion of the proceeds for each will go to our local wildlife rehab/rescue center for the care of real woodland babies. And they are not just for kids, grown ups like to nurture little things, too!

Prevent them from ESCAPING!

Door Knob Covers can be a great deterrent for little escapees! They are crocheted from either wool or acrylic and can fit either round or flat door knobs.

It is tied on to your doorknob. Little hands find it difficult to grab the knob and turn it as the cover will follow his/her hands. Naturally adults and older children have no trouble opening the door. It is much easier than fumbling around with clunky plastic covers and can be crocheted in the colour of your choice!

The Perfect Blanket

Last year when I had my baby, I discovered that not all blankets are created equal! Some are to small, some are awkward shapes, and some are too bulky. I discovered that my favorite two blankets were simple soft flannel, 45in (111cm) square, and with no stuffing or batting--just the two layers of flannel. Not only was it easy to swaddle my newborn, but as he's grown into toddlerhood, it's still large enough to cover him for naps or nursing. Gently turned and decoratively topstitched, it's warm and soft, but not too heavy. It fits in a diaper bag or suitcase, but still stays on my shoulder if I throw it there...truly, this is the perfect blanket!

If you've got Cabin Fever...

For many of us, it has been a long, snowy winter. What to do when it's too cold outside? Play of course! I've got some new puppets for the children to put on shows and befriend.These are princess and prince Waldorf inspired puppets. What fairy tales could be told with their swashing capes and adorable dress? Or how about doing a dino dance? Or playing sheepishly? There's no telling how much you'll laugh and how much memory space you'll take up watching their shows!

I also have mini 12 inch Waldorf inspired dolls. The bodies are made of warm, easy to clean, made from recycled pop bottles fleece. Some have a removable jumper so that his/her friend can dress and undress for additional fun. Stay tuned for more animals coming up...and if you need an animal that I don't have, let me know! It's Cooler in the Shade!

Beneath the Rowan Tree is our little family venture. It grew out of the need to find clothing for my daughter (now 28 months) that was fun, bright, natural and non-commercial. Since we live in an area where our only options for children's items are Wal-Mart or a *very* upscale (read: $$$) boutique, I started dyeing and painting cotton clothing for her (Rowan) and the rest is history, as they say!

Our core product is still our hand dyed and hand painted clothing in sizes 6m - 6t, along with our playsilks. We have also branched out into other natural toys, including Square Roots (tm), wooden vehicles (natural or personalized and painted), upcycled wool finger puppets, crayons... Whatever catches our fancy. My husband Andy does the woodwork, I do the painting and dyeing. Rowan does the inspiring!

We are committed to supporting and encouraging families to nurture their child's imagination, wonder and creativity in these crucial early years.

Andy and I (Lori) both work full time, so we are always working on achieving balance between work/ home and art. We welcome customs as time and energy allow (including a wider range of sizes and adult wear) and really enjoy collaborating with other artists and crafters.
