Ring of Fire

For women around the world, childbirth is not a necessary evil, but a rite of passage, for both mother and baby. The term "Ring of Fire" is often used to describe the intense feeling of the baby crowning. The lotus flower symbolizes the woman's body opening up like a blooming flower to release the baby.

16 x 20 Acrylic on 5/8" side-stapled canvas. Framing required. Signed by the artist.

My Avocado Pendant made it to the Front Page!

This Avocado pendant was featured on the Front Page of Etsy! The pendant was hand painted by Me and was turned into a necklace by Autumn of Bella Lili Designs. Brandy from BLink Designs emailed me to tell me the good news. You can see the Avocado Pendant in the Alamo City Etsy Store and you can see my own artwork in my store, Geminita.

Geminita's Mother Art

This is an expression of the feelings I was having in the time right before I learned I was pregnant with my first son. The original is a 12" x 16" Acrylic Painting on canvas. It was layered over another painting that I had sealed back in High School with hairspray. That's what made it crack.

Pick up a print of this by heading on over to my Etsy shop, Geminita.

lovely ladies for lovely ladies

Hi! I'm an MDC mom and etsy artist in Roswell, Georgia. Now that my daughter is 18 months old and before #2 becomes a conclusion, i'm focusing on my art and on promoting my etsy shop, http://www.pollywogpouch.etsy.com

My shop includes paintings in watercolor, oils, acrylics, and mixed media ranging from artists' trading cards (ACEOs or ATCs) on watercolor paper to larger works on wooden board and canvas. I love painting fancifully stylized portraits, and my shop includes pregnant women, chicks with birds, duchesses, goddesses, and, soon-to-come, mermaids. I also have some whimsical paintings about a pollywog and some sales on embellished fleece pouches.

I'm looking forward to being involved here!

A Little Carried Away

See what happens when I let myself get a little carried away.  I put in all of the curves and supple edges that I want.  I let the leaves gleam and dance. I don't worry about tastefulness or decorum or where to stop.  I work until they are done and overdone, supple and alive.

First Bloom of Spring

first blooms
first blooms, originally uploaded by railyuh.

I am very excited about my latest print! Here on the coast of Oregon it is beginning to warm up and the first signs of spring have appeared. There are birds chirping and tiny flowers opening up, searching for the sun. I just think this little flower is gorgeous and a great sign of hope and new life. You can find it in my shop here: First Bloom of Spring.

I am also starting a line of recycled notebooks and journals. I am taking old journals, papers, cardboard, and photos to create new usable pieces instead of sending all of my extra supplies off to a landfill. Right now I have two notebooks in my shop and I hope to add more to that soon. Check them out here: Recycled Notebooks.
